WB GOVERNMENT TO SPENT RS. 100 CRORE FOR TRAFFIC LANES IN BEHALA, KOLKATA

Webdesk, TNI Kolkata, 25th September, 2015: Inhabitant of Behala, Kolkata received a probable puja gift from the State Government. According to plans, for the construction of two extra lanes, the state will spend Rs.100 crore. The work will be completed by October 10 this year. Mayor Sovon Chatterjee of Kolkata Municipal Corporation led a joint inspection team with the senior officials from the state transport department, PWD, KMC and RVNL (Railway Vikas Nigam Limited) on Thursday, 24th Sep. They inspected some sites where accidents take place frequently on DH road. After the inspection of these stretches, the mayor took up the issue with Mr. Alapan Bandopadhaya, the transport secretary, and Mr. Indevar Pandey, the PWD secretary. RVNL engaged contract with Simplex and Gamon for the construction of Metro stations for the Joka-BBD Bag route. According to Dhiman Ghosh, an engineer of simplex, “We don’t received any official order for that, but we will complete our work before the Durga puja festivities at Chowrasta, Silpara, Thakurpukur and Joka metro station area where traffic remains highly disturbed by the killer stretches created due to the construction of metro.”
